`when you feel like giving up, remember who you are doing it for.’ This statement has gotten me up so many times that i have lost count of. It even does it better than googling “how to get motivated to wake up and be a mom” when my moods are dangerously low and i just want to lock myself in my bedroom and never come out.

Being a single mum comes with alot of struggles and challenges, real life challenges. Not like the 14 day ab challenge. Real life challenges like, having a sick baby and not having any medical insurance in the middle of a financial crisis. It is even worse if the pregnancy was unplaned (there are single mums who planned to have babies, it dint matter single or not) cause, first of all you are heartbroken, i mean, it is very hard being a mom while trying to repair yourself mentally and emotionally, and secound, there is a baby on the way, and if it is your first, you just have no idea of where to start from and, like in my case, young black lady, financially unstable and from a struggling family in a developing country. And by financially unstable i mean, just graduated from college, not even a chance to look for my first job, boom! Am pregnant.

All in all it means we have alot, extra more to deal with. But good thing is that we have it in us, we just pushed human beings from our bodies, a life and death experience, we can do just anything, we just need a little push, a little motivation, a little empowering and we good to raise beautiful souls, strong women and responsible men.

We just need to remind ourselves who we are doing it for, cause in the end, we are the only ones who can give our children a happy mother who loves life.
